Calen Smith, LMHC
Originally from Georgia, Calen relocated to the Pacific Northwest after earning her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Mississippi College in 2023. She completed her clinical training at the Mississippi College Counseling Center and in private practice, working with adults ages 18 and up. Calen takes an individualized, trauma-informed approach to therapy and draws from a range of interventions to meet each client where they are. She values authentic connection, open communication, empowerment, and personal development, and strives to create a warm, collaborative space where clients feel safe to explore life’s challenges, choices, and goals. Calen views therapy as a shared human experience and is honored to walk alongside her clients with compassion, curiosity, and unconditional positive regard.
My Approach To Therapy
I approach therapy through a trauma-informed lens, integrating person-centered therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, psychodynamic theory, acceptance-based therapy, and mindfulness-based interventions. My style is flexible, warm, light-hearted, and gentle. I believe in creating an authentic therapeutic relationship—one where you feel heard, safe, and genuinely connected. With me, therapy won’t feel like a sterile, blank-slate experience. Instead, you’ll meet a real human who shows up with you in the good, the hard, and everything in between. We may laugh, reflect deeply, or sit with hard emotions together—whatever the moment calls for.

I tailor my approach to each individual, combining evidence-based practices to meet your unique needs. We'll collaborate to identify what you're looking for and adjust along the way. I see you as the expert of your own experience—my role is to walk alongside you with curiosity, support, and trust. My hope is that you leave each session feeling empowered, believed, and safe enough to engage in deep personal work. Together, we’ll develop and pursue your goals at a pace that feels right for you.
